At Painters USA, the Lead Project Estimator is responsible for leading and overseeing the estimating team including standardized procedures, methods, and processes for estimating deliverables such as bid costing, scope of work, and budget tracking tools.
This position will also be hands-on in creating sales estimates, creating proposals, assisting in lead development, occasional jobsite assessments, and conducting project history reviews.
This position can be remote or based out of the Glendale Heights, Illinois location.
Basic
Qualifications:
5 years of estimating / costing experience in the construction industry Strong knowledge of building science and construction processes Must be proficient in digital on-screen takeoff Familiar with Pro-contractor MX, iSgFt, or other industrial estimating software Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel Must be able to pass a drug and background test Embodies Painters USA culture Desired Qualifications 7 to 10 years of estimating / costing experience specific to the industrial painting, coatings and or polished concrete industries.
Experience managing an estimating team Experience in leadership College degree or advanced degree in construction management or related field Additional education or certifications in project estimating or costing Performance Responsibilities Managing Estimating Team Responsible for estimating team meeting weekly, monthly and annual objectives Manage daily activities, weekly bid priorities, and output of the estimating team Collaborate and support the outside sales teams efforts Manage regular P&L bid review Develop training and personal growth opportunities for estimating team Ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment that embraces the Painters USA value Creating Sales Estimates Collaborate with Business Developers to create proposals based on field measurements, drawings, blueprints, etc.
Utilize Painters USA proposal worksheets to properly estimate all work.
Work within given time constraints to generate proposals, prioritize workload accordingly Understand production rates, consumption rates, and equipment needs by project type Accurately document job scope, working conditions, etc.
Access and download plans from FTP sites, perform on-screen takeoffs, Negotiate subcontracts as needed Utilize industry knowledge to assist in lead generation Follow up with past customers to determine future needs Managing bid logs, tracking bid service websites, tracking bid requests, etc.
Inspect Job Sites - occasional need Accompany Business Developer on job site visits and customer meetings as needed to understand all project components first hand as needed Conduct solo follow up visits as needed Document all job site conditions including site measurements, dimensions, work access, job details.
Take pictures and videos as needed.
Conduct Project History Reviews Catalog proposals for later quick review Participate and in all post job P&L reviews Manage product catalog with current products and production rates Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Occasional field site take offs, walking job sites and industrial / production facilities Minimal travel required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
